Puppy Update

The pups are 6 weeks old today.  It's so hard to believe.  Time really flies.  I have to admit, it's going to be really hard to let them go in 2 weeks.  They came into my life at a perfect time.  I just finished my schooling, got a job, and am embarking on a new career (starting soon).

The puppies hearing test (B.A.E.R) was conducted yesterday and they all have Bilateral Normal hearing.  That means that all 5 can hear in both ears.  Yeah!   The other good news is that all but Jay (the under ear patched boy) are show quality, we can not fault anyone.  We decided to keep Madison (RK's XTerra's Killing Me Softly).

The liver boy, Franklin, is looking for a home.  He is real sweet and I've labeled him the mountain climber.  He likes to get on top of everything. Here's a picture...wow, looking at this picture, I don't care if he sticks around for a bit :)

Daddy's Birthday Present...Meeting his pups

The pups went outside to their newly set up lanai to relax, eat and nap.
Daddy decided the best birthday present ever would be to spend it with mom and the kids.

Video Clip of the Kids

Puppy video

Hey - We're little dogs now

Riley and Disney's puppies are growing everyday.  Lots of changes have occurred this last week.  The puppies have spots, open eyes, and opening ears.  They're toddling around, barking and howling too.  They seem to be amazed that they can bark.  I'll link a video shortly, but here are some pictures.

Puppies: week one

I can't believe the pups are a week old already.  Their eyes and ears are starting to open and I can see spots coming through.  Remember, with a Dalmatian puppy, at birth the spotting pattern is present on the skin, but the fur they grow is snow white.  A patched puppy is born with pigmented fur at birth.  Patched puppies make lovely pets and performance dogs but cannot be shown in conformation events.  Jay was born with patches under both ears.  At about 9-12 days the baby coat sheds and a new "more colorful" coat takes its place.  Black or Liver spots appear (oh please, not black and liver on the same dog!).  It's an exciting time because their eyes and ears open too.  Plus they start toddling around!!  I'll post a video of that in the next few days.  Below are some pictures...somehow, Jay did not make a showing in this batch of pictures...I'll capture him in film later :)

Weekend Results for RK's & XTerra Dalmatians

The major wins eluded us this weekend but we did pick up 2 reserve wins.  We should feel great about it, but the truth is WE WANT THE POINTS.  Indy needs a major to finish.  We can almost taste it :) Both Cody and Indy showed awesome in Wrentham.  We're very proud of both of these dogs.

So here goes...Saturday 6/5, RWD went to RK's N XTerra's National Treasure "Indy"
on Sunday 6/6, RWD went to RKSNXTERRAS Leave You With a Smile at Twilight "Cody".

I'm still working on how to blog from my phone.  I thought I sent a few pictures to this blog but apparently there lost in cellular land.  Anyway, here's a picture of Bella.  My favorite puppy from the Indy x Mia litter.
